There is not too much personal information about Bryn North on the internet but we do know that he’s a filmmaker, photographer, and traveler, he’s based in South Africa and he’s doing some awesome high-quality videos.

He already went to the most beautiful places that we’ve ever seen, but what really comes to our mind when we see his videos is ‘’what gear is he using to get those awesome images and videos?’’

After a few hours of Mr. Bryn North’s videos, we were able to see what gear he is using and we will bring you the list of course, so let’s talk about Bryn North’s gear.

Bryn North Main Camera

The EOS-1D X Mark II is an incredible camera without any doubt, being Canon’s newest flagship DSLR this one is basically aimed at pro-level photographers. Canon didn’t say too much about the upgrades but when we take a look under the hood we see really interesting new features.

The EOS 1 DX Mark II is built around a new 20.2MP full-frame CMOS sensor, with the new update of Canon’s dual pixel autofocus system, now including an expanded 61-point autofocus system with 24% more coverage and a 360.000-pixel RGB+1R metering sensor. This is also one of the first Canon’s cameras that record 4K video, and this is kinda obvious but this camera is built like a brick and performs like a NASCAR car.

  • New 20.2MP CMOS full-frame sensor with dual pixel autofocus
  • 14 fps continuous shooting (16 fps in live view)
  • 200+ shot buffer (RAW+JPEG)
  • 61-point AF system
  • 360,000-pixel RGB + IR metering sensor
  • Native ISO from 100-51,200
  • 4K-6p video in DCI format
  • 1.62 million dot LCD touch screen
  • CFast 2.0 card support / USB 3.0

The 1D X Mark II is the camera that every previous 1D user want to pick up, because people can just adjust their favorite settings and star shooting right away, the body went to a little transformation – for the better in our opinion –  it takes very little to adapt yourself to the new changes, the camera was updated to be one of the best performing models in the market.

Bryn North Mavic Drone

The DJI Mavic Pro 2 it’s the perfect drone for everyone even if you don’t have any previous experience flying one of these, DJI Mavic came to replace the Phantom series, those were really awesome drones but there’s no doubt that the Mavic series is the best so far.

The remote control has been updated to being really comfortable to use, it has a monochrome-display it shows battery status, telemetry data, and other information. It’s actually possible to fly the DJI Mavic 2 Pro without a phone attached, but you’ll still need an iOS or Android device to activate the drone.

We don’t recommend you to fly without the use of a smartphone, even more understanding that you won’t see the view through the camera without a phone.

  • Superlative 4K video
  • 20MP Raw and JPG still imaging.
  • Great battery life
  • Compact, foldable design
  • Obstacle avoidance sensors.
  • Lightweight, easy to pack.

  • 8GB internal memory isn’t enough
  • No DCI format support
  • Expensive.

This drone – as we already said – is the perfect option, the fly time is rated up to 31 minutes with the battery fully charged, but always expect a little less, in our test with a normal temperature of summer here in California it went to 27 minutes, but thats still good, al least for us.

Panasonic LUMIX DC-GH5

This is the favorite camera for indie filmmakers and photographers so the replacement of the GH4 couldn’t be something disappointed, and it wasn’t… With its 20MP four-thirds sensor and deep video-centric feature set, this camera is the deal!

The GH5 is at a whole different level than its predecessor the GH4 but actually, the manufacturers claim that they are going to leave the GH4 in its lineup as a lower-cost option for those who don’t need the new features.

  • 20MP four-thirds sensor
  • 5-axis in-body image stabilization system with ‘Dual IS 2 support’
  • All 4K footage taken using the full width of the sensor
  • Internal 4K/30p 10-bit 4:2:2 video capture
  • 1080 video at up to 180p, enabling 7.5x slow-motion
  • 9 fps shooting with continuous autofocus
  • Advanced DFD autofocus
  • Dual UHS-II card slot (V60 ready)
  • Autofocus point joystick
  • 802. 11ac Wi-Fi, NFC, and Bluetooth
  • Pre-configurable rack focus mode
  • Waveform and vectorscope monitors
  • Beautiful design
